Board of Directors

Rabbi Erez Sherman was ordained from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, in May of 2009. He is also a graduate of Albert A. List College and Columbia University with degrees in Music and Jewish Studies, where he wrote his thesis titled, “Music in the Synagogue in the 21st Century.”

Rabbi Sherman has served Sinai Temple in Los Angeles since 2014. His passions include music, basketball, and the special needs community. Rabbi Sherman has lectured around the U.S. on “Inclusion of those with Disabilities into the Jewish Community” and volunteered with the Conservative Movement’s B’nai Mitzvah program for those with special needs in Jerusalem.

Rabbi Sherman's brother, Eyal, has been a quadriplegic for the last three decades due to a brain tumor and stroke he suffered as a child. Eyal's story shapes his theological thinking and activism in the special needs world. Rabbi Sherman's father, Rabbi Charles Sherman, authored the book “The Broken And The Whole: Discovering Joy After Heartbreak,” a memoir of a Rabbi's family with special needs.

In 2017, Rabbi Sherman, after learning about KEEN from Todd Burach, of Assist NYC, opened Sinai Temple's doors and is now a proud partner of Sunday afternoon basketball!

Rabbi Sherman is married to Rabbi Nicole Guzik of Sinai Temple, and they have three energetic children, Annie, Zachary and Henry.
