Executive Director Position

Job Description:
Executive Director, KEEN Los Angeles

Kids Enjoy Exercise Now Los Angeles (KEEN LA) is seeking an experienced, motivated Executive Director to lead the organization in development, programming and community outreach for the Los Angeles KEEN program.

 

Position Type: Part-time, 20 hours/week
Salary: $35,000 annually
Reports To: KEEN Los Angeles - Board of Directors

 

Goal of Position: The Executive Director is responsible for leading fundraising initiatives, volunteer and athlete recruitment, board development, and program execution, in coordination with the KEEN LA Board of Directors and a part-time Program Coordinator.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development, direction and evaluation of fundraising activities including acquisition of new donors, corporate support, special events, and grants.
  • Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates program activities to meet goals. Responsible for maintaining quality of existing programs and expanding program offerings.
  • Supervises the Program Coordinator to maintain excellent standards in all KEEN LA programs.
  • Maintains and utilizes a database of athlete and volunteer information.
  • Creates and maintains best practices to attract, train and recognize volunteers.
  • Develops, directs and implements public relations and communication strategies to support program goals and increase community awareness of programs.
  • Coordinates interns to assist with the operational tasks of the organization.
  • Works closely with board members to grow and leverage the capacity of the Board of Directors in service of the organization.
  • Position is home-based and will be required to host office hours (at least 4 hours) at KEEN’s downtown office at least once a week to check calls, mailings, and organize files.
  • Position requires regular attendance at weekend KEEN sessions throughout the year.
  • Maintains communication with KEEN USA Executive Director, Development Director, and Manager of Finance. Attends monthly national staff calls with KEEN USA and Affiliates, and annual national staff meetings as indicated.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year Bachelors Degree (in Social Services, Education or a related field preferred).
  • At least 3 years of fundraising experience.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task while prioritizing and accomplishing goals.
  • Established and active social and personal networks in the greater Los Angeles Area.
  • Experience working with and coordinating volunteers.
  • Experience in the non-profit 501(c)(3) sector (working with children with disabilities a plus).
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including social media (facebook, twitter, constant contact and basic html).
  • Creativity, dedication and an ability to excel in an autonomous environment.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
