Internship Opportunities

KEEN is a volunteer run organization and is always looking for additional leadership and longer-term committed support of our work.  KEEN internships require 5-10hrs/wk for at least 6 months and in return offer

Our current internship opportunities include:

Communications Intern

Description of KEEN: (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now) is a local, volunteer-led non-profit organization that provides fun, one-to-one exercise and recreational programs for children and young adults with cognitive and physical disabilities at no cost to their families or caregivers.

COMMUNICATIONS INTERN:

KEEN LA is is looking for a forward thinking and innovative intern with a passion to not only learn but use their skills/knowledge to advance the work of the organization through communications/social media: This intern will work closely with the Executive Director and will give you the opportunity to:

•    Conceptualize and develop a monthly KEEN LA e- newsletter to send to our constituents

•    Manage and strengthen KEEN LA’s social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)

•    Update KEEN LA’s website as needed (can be trained)

•    Join occasional athlete and family interviewing sessions and develop athlete profiles for outreach and development purposes

•    Support all communications needs around KEEN LA’s annual fundraiser

•    Promote KEEN in the greater Los Angeles community through media contacts and outreach

•    Meet regularly with KEEN Los Angeles staff and occasionally with board members

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Experience designing social media campaigns

•    Some basic knowledge of communications strategies

•    Must be available one Saturday morning and/or one Sunday afternoon/month to attend KEEN sessions

•    This is an unpaid intern position however certain expenses could be covered

•    Must have access to e-mail and a laptop

•    Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) strongly preferred

•    Must be able to commit 5-10 hours/wk for at least 6 months

•    Have excellent communication skills of every type, and aren't afraid to use them

•    Unstoppable passion for doing the right thing & getting the job done

Program Development INTERN

Description of KEEN: (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now) is a local, volunteer-led non-profit organization that provides fun, one-to-one exercise and recreational programs for children and young adults with cognitive and physical disabilities at no cost to their families or caregivers.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT INTERN:

KEEN LA is is looking for a forward thinking and innovative intern with a passion to not only learn but use their skills/knowledge to advance the work of the organization through program coordination and development. This intern will work closely with the Executive Director and will give you the opportunity to:

•    Lead bi-monthly KEEN Los Angeles programs (sport, basketball & swim) including volunteer orientations and trainings

•    Contribute to enhancing the design of KEEN Los Angeles’s programs and volunteer trainings

•    Research and apply to new sources of funding

•    Conduct outreach to local universities, businesses and community organizations  to recruit athletes, volunteers and sponsors

•    Contribute to innovative social media campaigns for KEEN LA

•    Coordinate all aspects of KEEN LA’s volunteer & athlete recruitment & registration

•    Occasional special event support

•    Maintain athlete and volunteer database

•    Promote KEEN in the greater Los Angeles community

•    Meet regularly with KEEN Los Angeles staff and occasionally with board members

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    No prior experience necessary working with disabled populations

•    All training will be provided

•    Must be available two Saturday mornings and/or Sunday afternoons per month  to attend sessions

•    Must be familiar with Microsoft office & Excel

•    This is an unpaid intern position however certain expenses could be covered

•    Must have access to e-mail and a laptop

•    Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) strongly preferred
