KEEN USA hosted a National Symposium in Washington, DC on the need for fitness programs for kids with disabilities in light of the childhood obesity epidemic. Representatives from NCHPAD, The YMCA, Special Olympics, SHAPE America, Playworks, and other organizations came together to discuss access and barriers to programming, best practices for providing programs, outcomes measurement and other issues on this critical topic. On Sunday, May 18th, Young Variety volunteered at the sports session at the Elysian Park Recreation Center. Executive Director Elizabeth O'Neil later presented KEEN LA with a grant for $12,400 to help fund Sports sessions for the year.
