KEEN-LA develops and runs its own programs to meet the needs of athletes and volunteers in the Los Angeles community. The responsibilities of KEEN-LA’s Board include policy making, long-range planning, fiscal planning, review of the organization’s financial reports regularly and seeking the financial well-being of the organization. Board members also monitor program quality to assure that all KEEN-LA activities are consistent with the organization’s mission and standards. Presently, the Board has five members. Board members serve as volunteers and are not compensated in any way. In 2006, our first full year of operation, members of the Board met 10 times to discuss all operational and program concerns, and to review financial reports.

The members of our Board include parent of disabled children, community members with special skills and volunteers who passionately want to help children with disabilities enjoy life more. They both attend to and voice the needs of our participants and potential participants in the development and implementation of KEEN Sports for Kids now and in all of the new programs we will develop in the future. KEEN Los Angeles, together with its sister affiliates in other cities, falls under the umbrella of KEEN USA.
